5 Stars So helpful!
This pen takes the guess work out of day to day tasks, its easy to use and helps keep me organized, i never forget anything anymore!

5 Stars Absolutly amazing
I have tried almost every type of pen product and PDA for taking notes in meetings. The LiveScribe is really a breakthrough in technology. I have found it very accurate, and it’s ability to sync with the recorded sounds is unique and truely an innovative step. I can’t help but think of all the applications this could be used for.

If you are thinking about buying one, don’t wait any longer, it really is a great product. One nice feature is that you can actually print your own paper (with a postcript printer) so you don’t even need to buy the special notebooks. I have also heard some people say they worry about recording in a meeting without telling everyone. That doesn’t need to be an issue, the pen works fine without recording. You can use it with the sound off and it stores all of your notes so you can search them later.

The desktop software stores all of the notebook pages you have written on using the pen. You can search the text for words and it does a very nice job. I have bad writing and I thought for sure it wouldn’t read it, but it does. Just being able to archive my notes and have them on a computer makes this pen worth the cost.

Did I mention LiveScribe also creates an online account for you when you register the product? You can upload your notes to the website for use where ever you are. They are marked private unless you want people to view them. But here is the cool part… once they are uploaded, you can download them as a PDF. I just used the pen to draw up dimensions for a cabinet door I am building today. I uploaded it to try out the site, then I printed out the drawing and I’m heading off to the garage to build it.

I haven’t had the chance to try out the software that converts your writing to text, but if it works as well as the pen, I’m going to be in Nirvana…

5 Stars Awesome Product!
The technology is truly amazing. It performs as advertised. I’m a student and am using this for reading and lecture notes. I had been using a tablet PC but it is such a pain to lug around (not to mention the distraction of surfing the internet during class!). This pen is very portable. The notebooks are high quality and sturdy. With my laptop, I end up having some notes on my PC and some in a regular notebook. It gets a bit confusing. That’s not the case with this pen because everything in my notebooks gets uploaded easily to my PC. The only minor inconvenience is that my professors often make lecture notes available (PowerPoint slides). I used to “print” to Microsoft One Note and annotate directly on the slides. With the special paper requirement of the pen, I’m not able to do that anymore. Not a big deal but something to note.

3 Stars good, but wait a version
I love the concept of the pen and it does alot of things really well. But some annoying features persist:

-the software keeps asking me to register, which I’ve done 3 time now, and its just keeps interupting me asking me to register;

-even if the pen is writing doesn’t mean the software can read it. I haven’t figured out what the problem is, but alot of meetings I write in my lap and the writing in the notebook looks fine. But there’s a bunch of skips in what the software reads–like the end of a cursive word gets cut off, or the cross of a T. I don’t know if I need to press more or hold the pen upright more.

-no pen cap. the leather case is huge. I just want a cap so I stop writing on myself.

Wait a year: one more version and I think it will be worth the money.

5 Stars SWEET pen, high price, great quality
I watched this pen for a year before it came out. I bought it on day one, and still love it. I use this pen for business only. I use it daily in meetings. The audio quality is wonderful. The head phone suck. They are uncomfortable, but their recording functionality is great when it comes to recording 3d audio… but thats something I almost never have a need for so the headphones are almost never used, they just hurt my ears and in business meetings, it wouldn’t fly.

Audio recording is great. Sound playback is like any other device on the market. The only drawback I noticed was when we had a large business meeting in a massive hall the audio did pickup each person talking, but as expected it sounded a bit distant, but that was to be expected since everyone was spread out.

The text writing is very useful, especially in business meetings since a lot goes on that you down write down, but you can always play back what you missed. I wish I had this in college, I probably would have caught more of the lectures and just got a little more edge over all.

OCR was not an option for several months but it finally came out. I’m happy with it. OCR is the hand written text to digital type. It does suck that I have to pay $30 for it, but its worth it. It also does a good job on drawings but don’t think you can design anything abstract with it. I don’t do many drawings so I can’t vouch for how good it does on complicated drawings. The text, as long as you write clean, and legible, it will convert the text just fine. But, as with all OCR its never 100% accurate. But, the software allows you to edit before you save the conversion which is great.

The quality of the pen is superb. Definitely feels like high quality aluminum, and a great paint finish. Everyone who sees the pen is impressed. I advertise it to all of my business colleagues as if i owned the company. a few of my co-workers have bought the pen and love it as well. It’s great for business, and good for school.

The price point is very high.. but I got over it after using it for a month.

The other teaser apps are still in build. but using them is GREAT! They will be paid options like anything else on this pen. The translation tool, i’ll probably definitely get. It would be great to help with learning new languages such as Spanish and Chinese and more. I’ll definitely pick those add ons once they come out. The programs from the demos seem to really pickup even sloppy writing.

The search functionality in the computer software app is awesome. you can search quickly for ANY word or combinations. It even picked up my co-workers sloppy hand writing that I couldn’t read very well. Probably my eyes being biased on sloppy hand writing, but the software did a great job of understanding the slop.

they just came out with being able to print your own paper (finally!) but I haven’t used it it just yet. Hopefully its a win also. Overall i’ve had this pen for almost a year, and I love it. I got another for my dad, and another for my brother in college.
